European Parliament Elections (May 9th 2024)
YGA is hosting an exciting panel event with three MEPs from across the political spectrum about the upcoming European Parliament elections, the potential consequences and the general future of the European Union in an ever changing world.
DRC and Rwanda Conflict (May 2nd 2024)
Dr Koen Vlassenroot joins us for a incredibly interesting speaker event on the current tensions between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Committee Elections & Movie Night (April 25th 2024)
Its time for a new committee and all positions from Chair to Ordinary Officer are up for grabs. Afterwards we’ll be holding an international movie night, pizza might also be involved :0.
DPR Korea and International Relations (April 18th 2024)
YGA is joined by Dr Sojin Lim for a intriguing talk on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the country’s role within international relations.
Nuclear Disarmament (April 11th 2024)
We’ve teamed up with the York Politics Society for a insightful cheese and wine night with York Lecturer Dr Nick Ritchie for a talk on the consequences of nuclear weapons and the dynamics of the disarmament movement.

We’re in Courtyard at 7pm to celebrate the end of another term!
Ecuador Gang Violence (March 7th 2024)
We’re back for another fantastic talk on the ongoing issue of gang violence in Ecuador, fueled by the drug trade. Join us as Dr Silvana Tapia Tapia brings us through the developments and challenges Ecuador faces in tackling the gangs.
Commonwealth and Digital Rights (March 1st 2024)
Join us in P/T/007 at 6pm for a brilliant talk with Dr Kiran Hassan from the Commonwealth Institute on the topic of digital rights and the impact of new technology on elections and democracy across the Commonwealth.
The Future of Argentine Politics (February 22nd 2024)
We’re with esteemed University of York senior lecturer Dr Alejandro Peña for a fascinating talk on the future of Argentine politics following the election of new President Javier Milei.

The Future of the Republican Party (January 25th 2024)
YGA is kicking off 2024 with a speaker event on the Republican presidential primaries and the state of the GOP ahead of the U.S. presidential election in November. We’re joining by 2012 presidential candidate and former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann for a fascinating talk / Q&A in D/N/056 at 6pm on Thursday the 25th of Jan. See you there!

Secret Intelligence and Covert Action (November 30th 2023)
We’re back in D/N/056 at 7pm for a talk with Dr Rory Cormac a professor and author on covert action and its significance in international affairs.
Regional Security Dynamics of West Africa (November 16th 2023)
A talk with PhD candidate Kennedy Okparaolu on the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the recent developments in Nigeria and the Sahel region. We’ll be in D/N/056 at 7pm!
Movie Night (November 9th 2023)
Join us is the big lecture hall at the Spring Lane Building (SLB/118) at 7pm on Thursday the 9th for a movie night. Film to be voted on our members group chat!
Striving for Sovereignty: Secession and Independence Movements (November 2nd 2023)
We’ll be in D/N/056 at 7pm on Thursday the 2nd for a panel event with experts from across Europe talking about the nature of secessionism, its causes, as well as its regional and international consequences.
